Overview

What you need to knowabout this route.

Arraigo (literally "rootedness") is the regularisation route for individuals who have been living continuously in Spain for at least 3 years without legal status. It recognises the reality that many people are deeply integrated into Spanish society — working, renting, raising children — and provides a pathway to legal residence and work authorisation.

There are three arraigo routes: Arraigo Social (social roots — 3 years residence + family ties or job offer), Arraigo Laboral (labour roots — 2 years irregular residence with 6 months of undeclared work demonstrated) and Arraigo Familiar (family roots — for parents of Spanish nationals or individuals with a Spanish spouse). The 2022 reform streamlined the informe de arraigo and made the process more accessible.

FAQ

Frequently askedquestions.

What is the informe de arraigo?
The informe de arraigo social is a report issued by the local social services confirming your social integration in Spain — language level, community ties, stable housing, and social networks. It is a key document for the Social route.
What changed in the 2022 reform?
The 2022 reform (following LOEX amendments) streamlined the informe de arraigo, removing some more subjective criteria and clarifying the requirements. The job offer requirement is now more flexible, and the social integration assessment is more standardised.
Does arraigo give me the right to work?
Yes. A successful arraigo application grants both residence and work authorisation.
Can I travel with an arraigo permit?
Yes — you receive a standard residence and work permit (tarjeta de residencia temporal) which allows you to travel within the Schengen area.
What if my arraigo application is refused?
You can appeal. The grounds for refusal (often documentation gaps or insufficient integration evidence) are addressable in many cases. I manage both the initial application and, where necessary, the appeal.
Ready to move forward with your Spain permit?
Start with a free 15-minute call — no forms, no commitment. I'll confirm your route, eligibility and the right package for your situation.
